July 4th
Petoskey’s July 4th celebration will include a 6 pm parade, a 7 pm concert by the Petoskey HS Steel Drum Band, live entertainment at the waterfront, and a spectacular fireworks show along Little Traverse Bay. Go to petoskeyfourth.org for information.
Please remind your family, guests, and renters that NO FIREWORKS OF ANY KIND CAN BE USED ON LAKESIDE CLUB PROPERTY AT ANY TIME. Fines can be assessed when this rule is violated.
Deck Staining
Co-Owners are responsible for pressure washing and re-staining their deck or balcony on a regular basis. The stain will be provided by the association to ensure the same color and type is used throughout the complex. It is recommended that re-staining be done at least once every three years.
July Projects
The Lakeside crew has a list of projects to keep Lakeside looking its best and is working to get ‘er done. Hedge trimming is almost done, edging is underway, Amanda is finishing the pool deck, and windows will be washed before the holiday. It’s so nice to drive in and see the lawns, flowers, ponds, and beaches looking beautiful . . . and no goose droppings! Thank you to the crew for keeping the geese away. The application of goose repellent (about three times a month) is helping to control these annoying water fowl.
This just in! We heard from the lighting rep that ALL fixtures have been received, so Squire Electric can get them installed after the Fourth of July holiday.
Landscaping
- 25 Adirondack chairs have been purchased and placed on the beaches.
- The Landscape Committee has examined and assessed plantings around the buildings and is developing a beautification plan.
Loon Report from Bud Siudara
“Not much is going on with the loons as of June 13th, which was the last date I was at Lakeside. The birds were fishing together that day which means there has been no nesting activity. When the loons are in a ‘family way’, they are on the nest around June 1st and take turns sitting on one or two egg(s) for the next 30 days. Birthing typically approximates July 1st. I’ll return to Lakeside for the 4th and give my attention to see what’s going on.”
